The Ray Iles Newtown Billhook is a robust, traditionally made tool designed for cutting and working green wood. Its distinctive curved blade makes it particularly useful for hedgelaying, coppicing, trimming and other woodland tasks where a strong, controllable cutting tool is required.

Ray Iles hand forges the blade from EN47 oil-hardening tool steel, giving it the toughness and edge-holding qualities expected of a serious working tool. At approximately 7mm thick at the spine, the blade has substantial strength while retaining the cutting characteristics required for fine green-wood work.

The full tang runs through the reinforced ash handle and is peened over a washer, providing a secure and durable connection between blade and handle. With traditional construction and quality materials throughout, this is a billhook intended to be used and maintained for many years.
